DESCRIPTION:The Caretakers\n8. september – 1. oktober 2023 \nMaria Koshenkovas glasskulpturer tager udgangspunkt i mødet mellem materialitet og følelser. Hendes kunstneriske fundament er en grundlæggende fascination af glassets særlige evne til at bevæge sig i det ambivalente\, mystiske og uforudsigelige\, imellem det varme og det kolde\, det levende og det døde. \nSelvom hun i stigende grad bruger nye materialer\, så er glasset fortsat hjertet og det bærende element. \n“Når jeg arbejder med glas er jeg i stand til at formgive meget direkte\, hurtigt og intensivt og på samme tid bruge hele farvespektret. På den måde kommer jeg meget tæt på oplevelsen af at male i skulpturel form”. \nUdstillingen udgør en dialog imellem forskellige materialer: glas\, metal og indfarvet reb. Metaldele og reb fungerer som bærende elementer for glasskulpturerne og danner en støttefunktion – heraf navnet The Caretakers. Glasset repræsenterer den menneskelige del\, som er sårbar og udsat\, hvor metallet og rebet udgør en hjælpefunktion – en slags omsorgsrolle. Selve processen med at få delene til at passe sammen i en større helhed og give de statiske glasformer mobilitet er et tematisk anker for udstillingen. \n“Mit projekt handler om at gøre dramatiske og voldsomme livsbetingelser til en poetisk fortælling. Som hvis de menneskelige organer efter en bilulykke beslutter sig for at gå på bar og få en drink. Blødende og knuste lever de videre på hjul”. \nEt andet væsentlige element er farven. Metalstrukturerne farvebehandles med en metode\, der ligner den\, man bruger til glas. Farverne forener glas\, reb og metaldele og får dem til at smelte sammen i sci-fi universets æstetik. \nFernisering d. 8. september kl. 15.00 i Strandgade 27B\, 1401 København K.\n \nOm kunstneren\nDansk/russiske Maria Koshenkova (f. 1981) er bosat i København og har arbejdet med glasskulpturer i Danmark mere end 15 år. Her artistic foundation is a fundamental fascination with the special ability of glass to move in the ambivalent\, mysterious and unpredictable\, between the hot and the cold\, the living and the dead. \nAlthough she increasingly uses new materials\, glass is still the heart and the essential element. \n“When I work with glass\, I am able to shape very directly\, quickly and intensively and at the same time use the entire color spectrum. That way I get very close to the experience of painting in sculptural form”. \nThe exhibition constitutes a dialogue between different materials: glass\, metal and colored rope. Metal parts and rope act as supporting elements for the glass sculptures\, they form a supporting function – hence the name\, The Caretakers. The glass represents the human part\, which is vulnerable and exposed\, whereas the metal and the rope form an auxiliary function – a kind of caring role. The very process of making the parts fit together into a larger whole\, and giving the static glass mobility is a thematic anchor for the exhibition. \n“My project is about turning dramatic and violent life conditions into a poetic narrative. Like if\, after a car accident\, the human bodies decide to go to a bar and have a drink. Bleeding and broken\, they keep moving… on wheels”. \nAnother important element is the color. The metal structures are colored using a method similar to that used for glass. The colors unite glass\, rope and metal parts and make them merge into the aesthetics of a sci-fi universe. \nExhibition Opening: 8 Sept. 2023\, 3pm – 5pm \nAbout the Artist\nDanish/Russian Maria Koshenkova (b. 1981) lives in Copenhagen and has worked with glass sculptures in Denmark for more than 15 years.
